YouTuber and professional drifter Adam LZ saw his Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 burn to the ground in 2020 when the oil filter came loose, and while many would get an insurance payout or even swap in another Ford V8, Adam had other ideas.
He swapped in a Barra engine, a 4.0-litre inline-6 from Ford with a cast-iron block and aluminium head. If you’ve been watching Adam on his YouTube channel at all then you won’t be surprised to hear that the engine didn’t stay stock for long, with its 436 horsepower 425 pound-feet of torque quickly being upped to 870 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque at the wheels.
For a recent video posted earlier today, he was given access to an airstrip which allowed him to properly dial in the car where he felt it was safe to do so. He explained in a recent Instagram post that the car is far too fast for the road, and far too sketchy for the drag strip.
During the video – where Adam and his team were lucky enough to see a rocket launch – they manage to get a lot of the car’s bugs sorted, but according to the Formula Drift driver, there’s still a lot of work to be done on the car.
It’s safe to say, this thing moves!
